Frederique
Rostovky was born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1925, although her
childhood was spent between Denmark, Belgium and France.
Frederique’s
family was very art loving, and she participated in various aspects of
the art world. There were often important international art exhibitions
at the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Belgium. She visited the
Prado in Madrid, Spain, among many others, with the highlight being her
seeing Picasso’s first abstract exhibition as a young girl. She was
greatly influenced by these. She also performed modern ballet and was an
artist’s model for Flemish impressionist painter Vlaeminck.
In the 1950’s, Frederique
married abstract painter, Andre Rostovsky, and they lived in the art
world in Paris and then in New York, where in the Artist’s Quarter she
met such painters as De Kooning.
All of these experiences encouraged Frederique
to develop her artistic talents: every artist she met
stimulated her latent desire to create.
After much travel between Europe, Asia and the
United States, she moved to Morro Bay, California, in the 1970s, and
concentrated very seriously on her art.
In
addition to her art, Frederique
has also a passion for animals. Recently, she became involved with
Horseman Jean Albert Renaud’s “Wild Horse Rescue”
project and a HIV/AIDS/ Awareness Prevention Program
" Protect Yourself 1 " .
A music video, directed by her friend
Monique Egé
Richert, in which her paintings are shown, is coming out soon....

Frederique
earned her Associate in Fine Arts degree at Cuesta College, San Luis
Obispo, California, and studied for two years at North-Western
Washington State College in Bellingham, Washington.
At this time, as her resume shows, she began
serious exhibitions of her own.
As a self-made artist, Frederique
has drawn from her experience to expand her creativity, and through
teaching she is able to help others to capture their artistic
capabilities. As a teacher, her goal is to motivate the inner fire in
her students so that they can realize their own creativity. Teaching is
also important to her, because others need encouragement to take risks
to find their own talents.
By using emotions, surroundings and her
imagination, Frederique enjoys
designing colorful, multi-dimensional images.
Painting, sculpting, etching, ceramics and mixed
media are areas of her talent that she has concentrated on developing.
Despite
having attended art classes, exhibitions and lived in the art world, Frederique
has not felt limited to certain styles or techniques. Her broad base in
art has given her the freedom to explore non-traditional as well as
traditional art forms. The result is her unique ability to use color,
texture and form in her work.
Because of an early teacher and the
encouragement of her own family, Frederique
has taken the challenge of finding success in art.
She is dedicated to her art. It has a charisma that
will bring pleasure to others through time. It is something she intends
to share - on and on.
